I am still astonished that people still make power supplies with those huge bricks that plug in. It's such a burden when you want to plug in more than one thing. The power supplies that come with the Empegs are nice, but I still don't understand why more electronics companies don't make mid-line wall warts, you know, the type where the brick is in the middle of the power cord so the actual plug is normal size. I've got an effects processor that has this, and it's just so convenient.

So my question for the more electronic savvy people here: Why aren't more of these mid-line wall warts made? Too expensive? Some weird burden on the power running through it? It just seems too logical to use these versus the big brick style plugs...

Yeah, I agree. They're a PITA. Our desks at work have a bunch of sockets underneath at the back hidden behind a panel and there's no way you can get the majority of these things to fit. There just isn't enough room around the socket. The old style with the Transformer etc in the middle of the cable are much much better. I suppose this should go in the "Things I Hate" thread.

Yes.

Your profile picture looks to be an image of a rack mounted mixer. So you're probably into music production at some level, right?

So haven't you seen "Dr Ferd's Wall Wart Removers"?

Logitech's Wingman Force has a nice power supply. It's *huge* and luckily not a wall wart. It's done quite right. The joystick is dense and heavy too. Real nice. Ditto on the opinion against wall warts.

The wall warts can still be rolled up and put into the empeg bag - a "mid" one wouldn't (at least not if it is like the one that came with my notebook PC.

When you order empeg from International (Rob's) store, it gives you an option of requesting a power suply that connects to the wall outlet via the same type of cable PCs and monitors use. Kind of universal (just replace the cable when moving to another continent ), and isn't a wall wart.

There is another option from Cyberguys. its a short extension that works pretty well.

CyberGuys Site Search for item "121 2550". They're only $1.80 (US) each.

btw, I have no affiliation with them. They were the first place that I saw this item and it worked great for me.

Ah, clever! They don't have them for non-USA plugs, I suppose (and don't ship outside USA anyway)...

btw, I have no affiliation with them.

No need for such disclaimer; advice like this is both usual and welcome (as would be even if you were the owner)

I ordered an extra power supply for my RioCar and got one of the big brick ones.....we'll see what kind they give me when they send me a replacement for the one that was missing out of the box of my RioCar.
